Become a qualified Suicide First Aider.

8-Hour Course

On-Site or Online

8 - 16 Attendees

SFA Certificate, with City & Guilds option

Course Description

Workplace Suicide First Aid helps staff address an incredibly complex topic. Suicide is often stigmatised and not openly discussed, yet there’s a good chance that we all know someone who’s been affected by it, or has experienced related feelings and thoughts.

This course teaches the theory and practice of suicide intervention skills that can be applied to personal and professional settings.

This course excellently complements the skill set of your Mental Health First Aiders or is great as a standalone training project.

Attendees Will Cover

  • Looking at the stigma around suicide.
  • Exploring suicidal thoughts and their causes.
  • Discussing suicide safely.
  • Building confidence to support someone considering suicide.
  • Recognising suicidal behaviours and how to respond.
  • Safeguarding and self-care.
  • Plus much more.

Certification

The Suicide First Aid Course has been developed by The National Centre for Suicide Prevention, Education & Training.

Upon completion of this programme, learners are also provided with the option to gain an assured certificate from City & Guilds by completing a written assignment. This is at an additional cost, paid directly to City & Guilds.

The assignment expects learners to use both the knowledge they have gained from the SFA programme and undertake some independent study.

Upon completion, the learner will receive an Assured Certificate of Learning from City & Guilds and a digital badge.

About the SFA: Suicide First Aid

SFA: Suicide First Aid is the only suicide prevention programme assured by City & Guilds and The Royal Society for Public Health.

MHFA Course Delegate

“As an anxiety sufferer, I felt today’s course was very eye-opening, informative and reassuring. I have taken away knowledge to highlight “triggers” I personally struggle with and turn them into coping techniques.”

Managing Anxiety Course Delegate

“This course made me consider the process an event can have that can lead to stress, and techniques on how to reduce that stress. This reflection also helped me step back and see that I do have my own techniques that I would use but just didnt know I was! “
