Workplace Flu Vaccinations
Ensure the health of your colleagues and workplace this winter with corporate flu jabs
Easy and Convenient Workplace Flu Vaccinations
Workplace Flu Clinics are an essential part of any organisation’s health and wellbeing strategy.
According to the CIPD, minor illnesses (like flu) are reported by 94% of people to be their most common cause of short-term absence from work.
Additionally, sickness absence rates are now at the highest they’ve been in nearly 20 years, according to the ONS.
Considering the business cost that even just a few days of absence can create, workplace flu vaccinations for your staff could save your business a lot of money.
In fact, it’s estimated that flu vaccinations as a preventative health measure save the UK economy nearly £30m annually.

Why should Businesses hold Workplace Flu Clinics?
Flu can affect anyone.
Yet, on the NHS, the vaccine is only available for free to certain groups who are more at risk of serious illness:
- Aged 65 or over
- Have certain long-term health conditions
- Are pregnant
- Carers and family of those with weakened immune systems.
This can leave a large portion of the healthy working-age population with a choice to make:
- Travel to a pharmacy to pay for a vaccine
- Not bother getting the vaccine and risk it
Offering the convenience and ease of workplace flu vaccines takes out the effort and helps keep your staff healthy – it’s a win-win!

More Information about Workplace Flu Vaccinations
What are the benefits of corporate flu jabs?
Not only does vaccinating your employees demonstrate a commitment to their health and wellbeing, it keeps your workforce healthy and productive, reduces absenteeism, and the risk of virus transmission across departments and teams.
Workplace flu vaccinations are a simple, effective, and worthwhile investment in the resilience and performance of your business. They help reduce the cost of unexpected illnesses and minimise operational disruption during the busy winter season. Book your team in for corporate flu jabs today so you can stay ahead of seasonal sickness and keep your business running smoothly.
Will the Flu Vaccine give me the Flu?
No, it won’t.
Flu vaccines contain a dead version of the virus. Think of it like training dummies for your immune system.
After the vaccine, you’ll have a sore arm and might have a bit of a temperature, like any vaccine. These are mild and, if needed, can be treated with over-the-counter medicines.
Do I need to get the Flu Vaccine every year?
Yes, you do. Last year’s vaccine won’t protect you.
This is because the virus changes and adapts each year, so the previous vaccine won’t work.
It’s the same reason why there’s no cure for the common cold!
I'm not vulnerable - do I really need the flu vaccine?
Whilst complications from flu are most dangerous for the very young or the elderly, the flu can pose a real risk to otherwise healthy adults, too. It can knock you off your feet for several days.
Isn't the Flu just a bad cold?
The Flu shares some symptoms with a common cold, but it’s much more intense.
According to the NHS, Flu symptoms include:
- Sore throat
- Trouble sleeping
- Headache
- A dry, persistent cough
- Extreme tiredness or fatigue
- Nausea or vomiting
- Difficulty sleeping
- Body aches and muscle pain
- Stomach upset, including diarrhoea or abdominal pain
- A sudden, high fever
With a cold, you’d likely take some over-the-counter medicine and carry on with your day.
When it comes to flu, you’re likely to end up bed-ridden for a few days. You’re also at risk of dehydration, which can cause serious problems.
Do vaccines cause other health problems, like autism?
No, they don’t. Vaccines are safe and extensively tested to ensure that they don’t have adverse effects on humans.
There is a common theory linking the MMR vaccine to the development of autism and bowel disease in children. This is based on a research paper published in 1998 which has since been widely discredited, with numerous other studies finding no link at all.
Who is entitled to a free Flu Vaccine?
The free NHS flu vaccine is available for you if you are:
- Are aged 65 or over
- Have certain long-term health conditions
- Are pregnant
- Live in a care home
- Are the main carer for an older or disabled person, or receive a carer’s allowance
- Live with someone who has a weakened immune system
- Are a frontline health or social care worker.
As for the long-term health conditions that mean you’re eligible for a free vaccine, these include:
- Conditions that affect your breathing, such as asthma, COPD or cystic fibrosis
- Heart conditions, such as coronary heart disease or heart failure
- Chronic kidney disease
- Liver disease, such as cirrhosis or hepatitis
- Some conditions that affect your brain or nerves, such as Parkinson’s disease, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis or cerebral palsy
- Diabetes or Addison’s disease
- A weakened immune system due to a condition such as HIV or AIDS, or due to a treatment such as chemotherapy or steroid medicine
- Problems with your spleen, such as sickle cell disease, or if you’ve had your spleen removed
- A learning disability
- Being very overweight – a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or above
Many of these conditions can be underlying, meaning that you may not realise that you have them, which is why it’s always a good idea to have regular health checks.
