What is International Women's Day?
International Women’s Day is an event that takes place every year on the 8th March.
In 2026, the event takes place on Sunday 8th March.
The day is an opportunity to celebrate women in all areas and walks of life, including the workplace.
This year’s theme is #GiveToGain: when people, organizations, and communities give generously, opportunities and support for women increase. Giving is not a subtraction, it’s intentional multiplication. When women thrive, we all rise.
What Activities Can You Host at Work for International Women's Day?
March is also a great opportunity to promote and raise awareness around women’s health in other ways.
In your workplace, you could host initiatives such as:
- Women’s health workshops
- Charity fundraising
- IWD office party
- Invite female colleagues to talk about their acheivements
- Offer a health check to women at work
- Host an external speaker
- Run a book club around female authors

Why is Women's Health So Important?
Women often experience a disproportionate amount of health inequalities versus men.
Sadly, this includes issues like not being believed at the doctors, or having unrelated problems put down to issues like period pain or menopause symptoms.
